Tree Pruning — common questions
What is the difference between pruning and removal?
Pruning removes the risky limbs, deadwood and overhang while keeping the tree. It is the right call when a tree is healthy but has grown too close to a roof, a fence, power lines or a neighbour. Removal is for trees that are dead, dangerous or in the way.
Can you lift branches off my roof or away from power lines?
Yes. Canopy lifting and clearance pruning — lifting low branches off roofs and maintaining clearance from power lines — is a core part of what we do.
Will pruning hurt the tree?
Not when it is done properly. We assess the species, structure and surroundings first and prune with the tree’s long-term health in mind — improving airflow, reducing storm resistance and keeping the canopy balanced.
Do you help with council requirements?
Our pruning follows council-friendly practices for shaping and clearance. If your tree may be protected, ask Api at the quote and he will tell you what applies.
Do you take the branches away?
Yes. Offcuts are chipped on site; the mulch can stay for your garden or we take it away with the rest of the green waste.
